Newcomers Club of Amelia Island
Florida P.O. BOX 16242 FERNANDINA
BEACH, FLORIDA 32035-3121 Welcome Vistors and Members of the Newcomers Club, we hope you find the information you need on this site.
PRESIDENT'S JULY
MESSAGE . . .
Isn’t it interesting that many residents flee to cooler locations for the summer
while people from all over the world are flocking to vacation on beautiful Amelia Island?
We certainly do have the perfect beach location with many activities especially for Newcomer members. The Golf Club of Amelia Island is always a lovely spot
to have a luncheon, as it was again at our June luncheon. They are always so gracious to give us their Fireside Room with
elegant table linens. Seeing and hearing about our sea turtle nestings and wildlife on Amelia Island as presented by Sandra
Baker-Hinton was so interesting. It gave me a renewed awareness of all the amazing
creatures we share our Fernandina Beach with and a respect for protecting their habitats. Gigi Feazell was this month’s coffee hostess
in her unique and lovely home on the marsh. Thanks, Gigi. It’s always a pleasure to visit your home. If you have a neighbor
or friend who might enjoy our group, think about inviting them to attend next month’s coffee. The June Cocktail Party was held at the home of Jan
and Gary Long, in Summer Beach Village. It’s always fun to get out at night,
eat great food, meet new people, and talk to old friends and all for $2.50. Where
else can you do that? Thanks, Jan and Gary! Thanks also to Kathy Williams, Deeda Luallen, and Dianne Davis and their husbands
for all the planning and hauling around they do for this activity. June brought the Marathon Bridge Awards Luncheon at
the Fernandina Beach Golf Club. It was attended by most of the forty-four players
who were committed to this activity since last September. Thanks to Jan Gundersen
and Barbara Hooper for all they did in chairing this activity for the year. Next
year’s chairmen, Phyllis Bunge and Peggy Harlow, can be contacted if you would like to play Marathon Bridge starting
in September or if you have any questions. The nominating committee has been selected and approved by Linda Alterio, your President Elect, and
will be meeting soon to draw up the slate for next year’s Executive Board. The
nominating committee is Signe Lupfer, Pat Orr, Alice LeGrand, Debbra Sullivan and Deeda Luallen. Let one of them know if you are interested in serving as an officer. So many other things went on this month from the TREX
trip to the Jacksonville Sun’s baseball game, dinner at Peppers with Gals on the Go, Kayaking, Night Owl’s miniature
golf and so much more. I hope to see all of you at some equally wonderful activity
in July. Warmest regards, Carolyne Rudd

We welcome you to Amelia Island and Nassau
County and wish you a wonderful life while living here! Newcomers Club of Amelia Island is a local club with the purpose of extending

If you want more information, please
contact our 2010 Orientation Chair, Terri Borakove, 321-1587. We encourage women interested in joining
Newcomers to attend a monthly coffee, usually on the 2nd Thursday of the month. A
