Nurturing Newcomers is a new group that has been formed to provide our members
with special attention, support and assistance during a time of need.
Do you know a newcomer who is ill, having surgery, or is undergoing
unfortunate events in her life? If so, in order for Nurturing Newcomers to help, we must hear from you!
PLEASE, PLEASE email one of us with the necessary information. We are
concerned about getting it as a phone message because if one of us is out of town, it might be days before we get the information. However, if you know one of us is here, a phone call would be fine.
Another
concern we have is getting a verbal message. Our memories aren’t what they use to be, and while
we want to know about anybody that needs our help or sympathy we really don’t want to hear about it at Publix! Many thanks
for your understanding and support.
We would also like for
you to consider becoming a Nurturing volunteer. Being a volunteer will only mean being on a list to help other Newcomers in
small ways. We are hoping for a long list so if one volunteer is called and it's an inconvenient time for them,
then another person will be available.
We envision help would possibly
including: a meal, or a trip to the doctors, or shopping, or some other small service for someone in a rough spot in their
life. For most Newcomers this will only be for a short time before family is able to step in and take over.
If interested in volunteering, please contact one of the coordinators.
